Building Block 2. Capacity |

| The business must have the capacity to complete additional work.
To advertise and promote your business to existing and new customers without the ability to complete additional work defies logic and common sense. Not only will the new customers not return but existing customers may go elsewhere as the level of services and the quality of products provided diminishes. Staff and management will become stressed due to being over worked. The profit and cash flow generated by the business will suffer. Many people in business believe money makes money however entrepreneurs know that it is brains that make money. Money being capital although important and required, is not the overriding reason why a business is successful. Having the right people in the right jobs is critical. Building Block 3. Get The Team On Board |

| To grow your business all staff must be motivated, driven, committed and passionate about the business.
Staff will be passionate about the business when the work place fosters feelings of motivation, drive, commitment and passion. As the business owner it is your role to instil a feeling of motivation, drive, commitment and passion in the staff. The staff must feel a high level of ownership of the business and business processes. The role of the business owner is to supply the resources, establish the systems, procedures and checklist and organise the right people into the right positions so the business will grow. A business cannot sustain long term growth on the sweat equity of the business owner/manager alone. Building Block 5. What are the Numbers? |

To grow the business you must know what the current numbers are. What are your sales, profit? How much money do you need to collect this week to pay the wages and suppliers. If you do not know how the business actually performed over the previous week, month and year, how are you going to know if the business is growing and making more money. Building Block 6. How to Keep on Track |

How to keep on track is one of the most important building blocks of a growing business and often a main area where a growing business fails which can have drastic implications. For example; A growing profitable business has run out of cash causing the business to fail. There is a saying in business “What you can measure you can manage”. Keeping on track is not difficult however it requires the discipline to complete 'Building Block 5. What are the numbers' on a monthly basis, and to ensure a structured management meeting occurs before the 15th of each month to review the results of the preceding month. With the right information in front of you and in a structured environment the correct management decisions will be made. With a structured monthly meeting decisions are made rather than procrastination setting in. |
